STANDISH, Maine – The Thomas College field hockey team was blanked by Saint Joseph's College (ME), 2-0, in a non-conference matchup on the road on Tuesday night.
The Monks improve to 7-3 (4-0 GNAC) overall on the season while the Terriers skid moves to eight games at 1-8 (2-0 NAC).
After a scoreless first half, the Monks found the scoreboard early in the second stanza when Libby Pomerleau lofted a shot over Thomas freshman keeper MacKenzie Oberholzer (Greencastle, Pa.), following a scrum in front of the visitor's cage, at the 47:35 mark.
Saint Joseph's tacked on an insurance goal in the closing minutes when Kara Kelly scored off a rebound on an Alexandra Belaire shot in the 69th minute.
The Monks outshot the Terriers 12-6 while Thomas held a 9-7 edge in corner opportunities. Caitlyn Poulin (Knox, Maine) and Miranda Gagne (Winslow, Maine) recorded the Terriers two shots on goal.
The Terriers will return to conference play on Saturday, October 7 as they travel to Castleton for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
