WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 loss to Husson University on Saturday afternoon in the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.
In the loss, the Terriers drop to 1-1 on the season while the Eagles earn the victory in their season opener.
Lindsey Allen (Jay, Maine / Spruce Mountain) and Olivia Mora (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) defeated Meridith Blessard and Katie Pratt in number one doubles action, 9-7. Charlotte Bednarz and Sarah Smith picked up the 8-3 win in number two doubles over Amelia Guimond (Fort Kent, Maine / Fort Kent) and Mia Navarro (Willimantic, Conn. / Windham). Marisa Brown and Kelsey Pelletier dropped Sarah Vigue (Dexter, Maine / Dexter) and Maddelyn Butts (Auburn, Maine / Edward Little) 8-1 in number three doubles.
In number one singles Allen fell to Blessard 6-2, 6-1 while Mora prevailed in a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Pratt in number two singles. Guimond dropped a 6-1, 6-1 loss to smith in her singles matchup and Navarro won 6-1, 6-1 over Bednarz. Vigue and Butts were both defeated 6-0, 6-0 in singles to Pelletier and Brown.
The Terriers will travel across town for their next match on Sunday, September 11, for a 10:00 a.m. contest at Colby.
