GORHAM, ME – The Thomas College club ice hockey team earned their first victory of the season over Saint Joseph's (Maine), 5-4, in a Northeast Collegiate Hockey Association Colonial Conference matchup on Saturday night.
The Terriers improve to 1-2 (1-0 Colonial) on the season while the Monks remain winless at 0-3 (0-2 Colonial). Senior captain Jason Dicey and junior Bryce Lamontagne each recorded two goals and an assist in the win.
Dicey broke open the scoring at 3:11 of the first period from Zach Disch and Dylan Fernandez. The Monks responded with the equalizer at 10:15 from Adam Twitchell. Less than 10 seconds later, Lamontagne netted his first of the game to regain the lead.
The Monks added two goals of their own at 12:12 and 15:13 from Sean Costa and Sean Peschier for a 3-2 advantage in the first period. Thomas was able to tie the game with just 19 seconds left in the period on a goal from Kyle Mangin.
The Terriers netted the only goal in the second period as Dicey put the Terriers up 4-3 at 14:27 on a feed from Lamontagne.
Twitchell scored his second goal of the game at 6:37 of the third to notch the game up once against at 4-4. Lamontagne finished the scoring at 5-4 in favor of the Terriers with his second of the game at the 17:33.
Michael Small earned the win in goal for the Terriers while Paul Riley was given the loss for the Monks.
The Terriers will face-off against Colby-Sawyer at home on Saturday, December 4 at 1:20 p.m.
