Box Score WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College men's soccer team clinched the top seed of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament with a 2-0 shutout victory over New England College on Saturday afternoon at Smith Field.
In the victory, the Terriers remain undefeated in conference play with a 10-4-1 (8-0 NAC) record while the Pilgrims drop to 8-9 (4-4 NAC). Sophomore forward Adam LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine / Yarmouth) tallied both goals for the Terriers in the win.
In the middle of the first half, Jeffrey Nagy (Old Saybrook, CT / Old Saybrook) sent a centering pass to LaBrie in the box. LaBrie settled the ball and fired a shot just inside the left post for a 1-0 lead. The Pilgrims outshot the Terriers at the break by a 6-4 margin.
In the 72nd minute, LaBrie received a centering feed from London Steede-Jackson (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda / Cedarbridge Academy) and he beat the Pilgrim keeper on the right side to finish the scoring at 2-0.
Junior Drew Martin (Berwick, Maine / SMCC) turned aside all five shots in the shutout while Maxime Danis made three saves in the loss for New England College. Thomas held a 10-9 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corners.
The Terriers will wrap up their regular season on Sunday, October 23 as they face Colby-Sawyer for Senior Day in a 2:30 p.m. contest at Smith Field.
