Terriers Drop Lyndon 7-1 in NAC Contest

WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College men's soccer team defeated Lyndon State, 7-1, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon as part of Thomas Homecoming.

With the win, the Terriers move to 9-4-1 (7-0 NAC) on the season while the Hornets drop to 5-7 (2-6 NAC).

Thomas opened the scoring less than two minutes in when Willie Clemons (Paget, Bermuda / Warwick Academy) found Adam LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine / Yarmouth) to give the Terriers the 1-0 lead. The Hornets answered right back two minutes later with a goal by Devin Cowan, assisted by Hunter Torrey. LaBrie regained the lead for Thomas in the 16th minute when he scored off a pass from London Steede-Jackson (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda / Cedarbridge Academy). Thomas received goals from DJ Nicholas (Portland, Maine / North Yarmouth Academy), Kyle Fletcher (Monmouth, Maine / Monmouth), and Ibrahim Moustapher (Blantyre, Malawi / Hebron Academy) to go into the half with a 5-1 lead.

Six minutes into the second, Reid pushed the Thomas lead to 6-1 on a goal assisted by Clemons. Zeon Robinson (Hamilton, Bermuda / Berkeley Institute) tacked on another goal for the Terriers, assisted by Nicholas, to bring the final score to 7-1.

Joakim Sternas (Stockholm, Sweden / Bromma Gymnasium) earned the win in goal for the Terriers, making three saves. Sternas was replaced by Jonathan Dutka (Durham, N.H. / Oyster River) in the second half, who stopped 7 shots in relief. Matt LaClair was given the loss for the Hornets, making 10 saves. LaClair was relieved midway through the second by Caleb Derbyshire, who made two saves.

The Terriers next game will be on Saturday, October 22, as they host NAC opponent New England College in a 3:30 p.m. match at Smith Field.
