LaBrie's First Half Hat Trick Powers Terriers to 3-0 Win

WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College men's soccer team shutout the University of Maine at Farmington, 3-0, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon at Smith Field.

The Terriers earned their fifth victory in a row, improving to 5-2-1 (4-0 NAC) while the Beavers fall to 2-7 (0-3 NAC).  Sophomore forward Adam LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine / Yarmouth) scored all three goals for the Terriers in the win.

LaBrie scored two goals early in the 13th minute for a quick 2-0 lead.  London Steede-Jackson (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda / Cedarbridge Academy) assisted on the first goal while DJ Nicholas (Portland, Maine / Yarmouth) and Willie Clemons (Paget, Bermuda / Warwick Academy) tallied assists on the second.  Later on in the first half, LaBrie recorded the hat trick on a feed from Nicholas in the 31st minute for a 3-0 advantage going into the break.

In the second half, the scoring remained the same as the Terriers outshot UMF 6-2.

Joakim Sternas (Stockholm, Sweden / Bromma Gymnasium) earned the victory in goal for the Terriers, stopping two shots.  He was relieved in the second half by sophomore Jonathan Dutka (Durham, N.H. / Oyster River) who also made two saves.  Ronie Morales made four saves in the loss for the Beavers.  Thomas outshot UMF 21-5 for the contest and held a 9-2 advantage in corners.

The Terriers will have a non-conference matchup on Monday, October 3, as they travel to Bowdoin for a 4:00 p.m. game.
