Box Score WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College men's basketball team dropped a North Atlantic Conference match-up to Lyndon State College by a final score of 76-58. Adam Carlsen and Eric Westbrooks each scored 13 points for the Terriers in the loss.
The Terriers (9-12, 7-7 NAC) struck first in the game, when Mike Akanji hit a three-pointer, but then would not find the bottom of the net again for almost 10 minutes, as Lyndon State (8-12, 7-7) went on an 18-0 run. Thomas closed the gap before the half, however they still trailed 36-26 going into the locker rooms.
Levi Barnes had eight first half points for the Red and Black, while Adam Carlsen chipped in six points of his own. Ian King pulled in four rebounds in the first half for the Terriers. For Lyndon, Robert Alers had 10 first-half points and George Carle had nine points and nine rebounds at the break.
Thomas attempted multiple comebacks in the second half, however each run was answered right back by the Hornets. Westbrooks had eight points off the bench in the second half, and Carlsen tallied seven more.
Barnes and Akanji each finished the game with 10 points, and King, Owen Brown, and DayShawn Roberts each pulled in four rebounds for the Terriers.
For Lyndon State, Rontrez Purcell scored a game-high 17 points, Alers finished with 16 points, and Carle closed the game with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Thomas will be back in action when they travel to Castleton on Friday, February 13, to take on the Spartans. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
