Terriers Victorious on Senior Night Against Maine Maritime

WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas men's basketball team won a North Atlantic Conference matchup against Maine Maritime Academy by a final score of 87-82.  Levi Barnes led the Terriers, scoring 25 points in the victory. Thomas seniors Mike Akanji, Shaun Munson, and Eric Westbrooks were honored prior to the game for Senior Night ceremonies.

In the first half, the teams traded blows for the entirety of the half, as Thomas (11-13, 9-8 NAC) trailed by 10 early, before overcoming that deficit to take a one point lead on the Mariners (3-21, 2-15 NAC) into the locker room with the score at 45-44.  Three Terriers scored double-digit points in the first half, with Levi Barnes leading the way netting 13, Adam Carlsen scoring 12, and Eric Westbrooks scoring 10.

In the second half, the teams once again fought back and forth, with the Terriers getting out to an 11 point lead with nine minutes to play before Maine Maritime closed that gap.  With the game going down to the wire, Justin Murray hit a three-pointer with 38 seconds remaining to put Thomas up by eight points.  Maine Maritime's Zachary Radcliffe answered with a three of his own just seconds later, however neither team scored again before the final horn.

Carlsen finished the game with 14 points while shooting 4-7 from three-point range.  Westbrooks ended with 12 points and five rebounds for Thomas, and Justin Murray scored 12 points for the Terriers in 28 minutes off the bench.  All nine Terriers that entered the game recorded points in the victory.

For Maine Maritime, Nick Holt recorded 19 points, while Tyler Thayer scored 16 points while grabbing 15 boards.  Jason Hatch also chipped in 14 points in the defeat.

Thomas will be back in action when they close out the regular season at Husson on Saturday, February 21. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
