CASTLETON, VT – The Thomas men's basketball team won a North Atlantic Conference matchup Friday evening against Castleton by a final score of 102-93.  Levi Barnes scored a career-high 40 points in the victory, while Ian King dished out a career-high 13 assists.

Thomas (10-12, 8-7 NAC) and Castleton (12-10, 10-6 NAC) traded blows early, going back and forth for the first six minutes of the game before the Terriers used a 14-0 run to jump out to a 10 point lead with 11 minutes to play in the first half.  Each time the Spartans tried to make a run, Thomas had an answer—using 26 first half points from Barnes to take a 57-48 lead into the locker room.  King had 10 assists and six rebounds in the first half for Thomas, while Justin Murray chipped in eight points off the bench.

In the second half, Castleton would come out firing and overtake the lead for a brief moment just four minutes into the second stanza.  Thomas would answer right back, however, and go on a 13-0 run to pull away one final time.  Barnes scored 14 of his 40 in the second half, while Eric Westbrooks added 13 second half points to bring his game total to 20.

Murray finished the game with 15 points off the bench, while Adam Carlsen scored 13 points.  Westbrooks also added nine rebounds in the victory for Thomas.

For Castleton, Alexander Homkey scored 28 points and Rob Coloutti added 22 points in the defeat.  The Spartans outrebounded the Terriers 52-44, however that was not enough to overcome the Terriers' three-point shooting on the night, as Thomas went 10-19 from long range.

Thomas will be back in action tomorrow, February 14, when they travel to Green Mountain College.  Game time is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
