Box Score WATERVILLE, ME --- Colby College had four players in double-figures and used a 46-32 advantage on the boards to post a 77-61 win over Thomas College on Tuesday in a clash of Elm City rivals.
After Colby's Ryan Jann drained a three-pointer to open the game, the Terriers (2-3) grabbed the lead with six straight points and played from ahead for most of the first half. The Mules (2-1) unable to grab their first sustained lead until Tony Karalekas drained a three-pointer with 5:25 to go to make it 27-24.
Trailing 33-29, Thomas got its final points of the half on a trey by Tyheem Simon with 1:48 to play. A basket by Chris Hudnut with 50 seconds remaining gave the Mules a 35-32 lead headed to intermission.
Carlos Gonzalez made a layup just into the second half to cut the deficit to just one point, but the Mules responded with a 14-2 run to take a 49-36 lead with 16:18 to play. Dayne Savage stopped the run with a three-pointer at the 16:11 mark to make it a 10-point lead, but the Terriers were unable to pull within single-digits.
Simon finished with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting but only two points came after halftime. Levi Barnes added 13 points seven rebounds for Thomas, which finished the game shooting 38.7 percent (24-of-62) from the field.
The Mules, who out-rebounded the Terriers 46-32, finished with four playes in double figures, led by 17 from Jann. Patrick Stewart added 12 and nine rebounds.
The Terriers return to the court at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1 when they open North Atlantic Conference play at Maine Maritime Academy.
