STANDISH, ME — The Thomas College women's cross country team placed ninth Saturday at the 2015 Runnin' Monks Invitational hosted by St. Joseph's College.
Junior Amanda Cotter (Moultonboro, N.H. / Inter-Lakes) finished 44th in the 129-runner field with a time of 23:53.3 to lead the Terriers and account for 36th-place points.
Junior Crystal Peatfield (Salem, N.H. / Salem) finished 52nd overall in 24:25.2 for 39th-place points, followed by freshman Marissa Gammon (Minot, Maine / Poland Regional) in 93rd with a time of 26:36.7 for 58 points. Sophomores Evelyn Swan (Bar Harbor, Maine / Mount Desert Island) placed 96th in 27:02.9 for 60 points and sophomore Alyssa Maggi (Belchertown, Mass. / Belchertown) was 100th in 27:35.0 for 62 points. Junior Krysten Quinn (East Millinocket, Maine / Schenck), the final Terrier across the line, finished 125th in 32:18.6.
Thomas placed ninth in the 12-team field wtih 255 points. Emmanuel (Mass.) placed five runners in the top seven to run away with the team title with just 23 points.
The Terriers return to competition Saturday, October 17 at the Maine State Championship hosted by Bowdoin College at the Pickard Field Cross Country Course in Brunswick. The women's race will begin at 3:00 p.m.
