Terriers Explode For 13 Goals Against Daniel Webster

WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College (3-3) women's soccer team rolled to victory at home on Saturday afternoon, taking down Daniel Webster (1-3) by a score of 13-0.  Bronte Howorth led the attack for the Red and Black, notching a hat trick to go along with two assists.

The Terriers got the scoring going early, with Howorth finding the back of the net in the 2nd minute, assisted by Kajsa Kaufeldt.  Just three minutes later, Kaufeldt knocked in the first of her two goals on the day, assisted by Howorth.

In the 12th minute, Howorth would again find Kaufeldt for a goal to make the score 3-0 in favor of the home team.  In the 14th minute, Howorth got back into the goal column, knocking one past Eagles' keeper Shannon Grigas for her second goal of the game.

The score held at 4-0 in favor of the Terriers for a while, but before the half they got back into the scoring column three more times, with two goals from Kristi Hilton and one goal from Mary Grace Morris.

Coming out of the half with a 7-0 lead, Thomas was not content.  They added two more goals within the first four minutes of the half, scored by Kristina Emmons and Howorth.

The Terriers continued to score in bunches, as Elizabeth McPhillips and Emily Dufour scored within six minutes of each other to make it an 11-0 game with 30 minutes remaining.

Keeping the trend alive, the home squad once again notched a pair of goals in a short time span, with Mary Grace Morris putting home her second of the day in the 83rd minute, and Sara Moynihan scoring in the 84th to make it 13-0.

In net for Thomas, Paige Leary got the start, but did not face any shots.  In the second half, Kira Buker stopped the only shot she faced, preserving the shutout for Thomas.  Daniel Webster's Shannon Grigas faced 21 shots on the day, stopping eight of them.

The Terriers will be back in action on Wednesday, September 17 at Saint Joseph's.  Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
