Box Score CASTINE, ME - Maine Maritime defeated Thomas College, 74-35, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball game on Wednesday evening. The Mariners improved to 15-9 overall, 12-5 NAC, while the Terriers dropped to 4-20, 4-13.
Katie McAllister scored a team-high nine points for Thomas and Ashleigh Gagne pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.
Ashley Shine led Maine Maritime with a game-high 16 points on 5 of 11 shooting from the field. Bekah Campbell and Cheyenne Malloy each netted nine points for the Mariners.
After Elizabeth Goodall evened the game at 4-4 with 16:03 left in the first, Maine Maritime went on a 10-2 scoring run to lead 14-6 four minutes later. Malloy netted six in the run and Mackenzie Vosburgh and Campbell each scored two.
Goodall put the Terriers within five, 14-9, before the Mariners went on a 20-2 run to take a 34-11 lead with 4:56 left before the break. Shine led the run with nine points. Maine Maritime led 39-19 at halftime.
The Mariners opened the second half with a 25-8 run to take its largest lead, 66-27, with 8:34 left in the game. Thomas came as close as 68-33 on a McAllister layup with 6:11 on the clock.
Thomas will conclude their 2013-14 regular season on Saturday, Feb. 22 as they host Husson for a 1:00pm tipoff. Prior to the start of the contest Thomas College will recognize their three seniors: Goodall, Morgan Hutchins, and Kate Thibodeau.
