Terriers Taken Down by Castleton in Conference Matchup

WATERVILLE, ME – Thomas College was unable to secure a home victory, falling to Castleton, 83-42, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball tilt on Friday night at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium. Sophomore forward Katie McAllister led the Terriers with 14 points in the losing effort.

With the loss, Thomas falls to 3-19 (3-12 NAC), while Castleton improves to 20-3 (15-1 NAC) on the season.

The visiting Spartans shot 55.9% (19-34) from the field in the opening stanza to jump out a comfortable 44-25 lead at halftime. Castleton went on an 8-0 run at 16:05, giving them a double-digit advantage that would not be relinquished throughout the remainder of the contest.

The second half was much of the same, as Castleton would extend their lead by as much as 43 points at 1:32 mark on a layup by Eva Clark.

Jade Desroches led the game with 21 points, while going 8-15 from the floor, while Meghan O'Sullivan chipped in for the visitors with 16 points, shooting 8-10 from the hardwood.

Overall, Thomas shot 26.9% (14-42) from the floor, while their counterpart went 35-67 (52.2%). Castleton held a 50-21 advantage in caroms, while also controlling points in the paint, 40-14.

The Terriers will return to the hardwood tomorrow as they host Green Mountain College, with tipoff scheduled for 1:00pm. Thomas defeated the Eagles earlier this season on the road, 51-46.
