Terriers Topped By Crosstown Rival Colby

WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas men's basketball team could not hang around in the second half as Colby pulled away for a 103-68 win Tuesday night from Larry Mahaney Gymnasium. The Mules dominated the glass, owning a 39-18 advantage over the Terriers.

Colby (4-1) jumped out to the halftime lead, making 22 of 33 shots (66.7%) from the field, including 8 of 16 from three to give them a 56-42 advantage going into the second half.  Connor O'Neil led the charge, netting 13 points, while Ryan Jann had three assists and five rebounds in the half. 

Levi Barnes scored 17 first half points for Thomas (1-5) while teammate Eric Westbrooks added 16 points.

In the second half, the Mules got to the foul line and converted 15 of 18 (83.3%) to extend the lead over the rest of the game. Chris Hudnut scored 13 of his game-high 25 points, while also collecting eight boards, three steals and two blocks on the evening. The Terriers only managed to make nine field goals in the second half and committed 11 of the 13 turnovers.

Barnes finished with a team-high 22 points and Westbrooks put in 20 as they were the only players in double-figures on the night for Thomas. Colby was led by Hudnut's 25, while Sam Willson chipped in 15 as four players scored in double-figures for the Mules.

Thomas will now open up North Atlantic Conference play next Tuesday, December 2 when they host Husson at 7:30pm.
