Box Score HENNIKER, NH— The Thomas field hockey team held New England College scoreless as the Terriers topped the Pilgrims 7-0 in North Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon.
Thomas (4-8, 1-1 NAC) started the scoring just seven minutes into the game as Brittany Premo fired a shot that would ricochet off a Pilgrim defender and in. The Terriers scored a quick second goal just two minutes later as Erica Blake netted an unassisted goal recording her fourth goal of the season.
Thomas tacked on two more first half goal as Brooklyn Curry put in a corner by Nora Rauch in the 29th minute and Taylor Bergeron who netted her third goal of the season assisted by Curry in the 32nd minute.
Thomas added a goal in the 43rd minute as Erin Nelligan converted on a Terrier penalty stroke recording her first goal of the season. Taylor Bergeron extended the Terrier lead to 6-0 in the 60th minute scoring her second goal of the game, followed by an unassisted goal by Abigal Dunn in the 65th minute.
The Terriers finished the game out shooting the Pilgrims 28-7 and held the 12-7 advantage in penalty corners.
Splitting time in net for Thomas was Abbie Charrier who finished with one save and Brittany Fox who notched five saves. In goal for NEC (0-12, 0-2 NAC) was Karlie Bove who recorded 15 saves on the afternoon.
The field hockey team returns to action on Wednesday, October 8 when they host non-conference opponent Saint Joseph's College at 5pm.
