Cross Country Teams Compete in the Maine Collegiate Championships

FARMINGTON, ME – The Thomas men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Maine Collegiate Championships on Saturday at Mt. Blue High School.

Women's Recap

In the women's race, Colby College finished as the top team with a team score of 34. The University of New England finished second with a score of 60 and Bates was close behind with 61. Bowdoin came in fourth with 112 and Southern Maine rounded out the top five with 131.

Thomas finished ninth out of 11 schools, with a team score of 283. Amanda Cotter led the way, placing 32nd with a time of 21:31. Rounding out the top five for the Terriers were Crystal Peatfield (26:56), Nicole Ryder (27:46), Alyssa Maggi (28:50), and Samantha Felbaum (29:02).

Colby College had the top two runners with Alanna McDonough and Krista Brown finished two seconds apart. McDonough crossed with a 19:23 and Brown with a 19:25. Bates' Elena Jay finished close behind with a 19: 35. UNE rounded out the top five with a 19:38 finish from Brittney Sorbello and a 19:40 final time from Tiana Thomas.

Men's Recap

In the men's race, Bates College took home the title of top team at the Maine Collegiate Championship, as the Bobcats finished a team score of 26, followed by Bowdoin with 38 points, Colby with 64, Southern Maine with 118, and the University of New England with 143 to round out the top five. 

Thomas finished ninth out of 11 schools, with a team score of 252. Nick Kopf led the way for the Terriers, placing 36th with a time of 29:11. Rounding out the top five for Thomas were Aron MacLean (29:47), Evan Boudreau (31:27), Will Janakis (31:58) and Cole Barney (32:14).

Bates also had the top individual runner from John Stansel, crossed the line first with a 26:22. Bowdoin's Avery Wentworth finished second with a 26:22. Bates' Zach Magin followed Wentworth by four seconds, Bowdoin's Bridger Tomilin and Matt Jacobson raced their way to a fourth and fifth place finish. 

Men's Results

The men's and women's cross country teams will return to competition on Friday, October 24 when they host the Thomas Invitational.
