Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Thomas field hockey team picked up a dramatic victory when Taylor Bergeron scored 2:07 into overtime to lift the Terriers past Colby-Sawyer, 3-2 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) field hockey match on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas improves to 5-9 overall and 2-1 in the NAC, while the Chargers drop to 7-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The Terriers struck first when Erica Blake took a pass from Brooklyn Curry and found the back of the goal for the 1-0 lead. Sonja Morse added to the Thomas elad nine minute later on a feed from Abigail Dunn. Thomas held a 9-0 edge in shots and a 6-0 advantage in penalty corners.
The script was flipped in the second half as Colby-Sawyer scored twice to send the match into overtime. Allyse Mullen scored on a feed from junior Becca Hashem less than three minutes into the frame to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Then with less than three minutes to play in the half, Nykki Stritzinger notched her team leading sixth goal on an assist from Rebecca Perley. The Terriers held a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Abbie Charrier made a pair of saves in the win for Thomas. Jodi Dumayne had six stops for Colby-Sawyer.
The field hockey team will host Castleton next Saturday, October 18 at 11am.
