WATERVILLE, ME – Thomas women's basketball was unable to come away with a home victory, falling to Maine Maritime Academy, 76-42 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Tuesday night.

With the loss, the Terriers fall to 2-10 (2-5 NAC), while MMA improves to 6-4 (3-2 NAC) with the triumph.

Thomas sank the first basket of the game off of a layup from Katie McAllister, but that would be the only Terrier lead of the night. MMA switched the score to their favor less than a minute later when Kari Jones hit a three pointer at 18:43. The Mariners would go on a 9-0 run starting at 13:37 which would give them a 14 point cushion.

The away side ended the opening period with a 14 points lead, 35-16. Thomas was unable to get anything going offensively, and gave up 12 turnovers in the half. The hosts had only two multi-basket scorers in the opening stanza, Elizabeth Goodall and McAllister with four points each.

Cheyenne Malloy led all scorers with nine points for MMA, while Leah Jackson chipped in with six in the first half.

The second half saw much of the same, as the Mariners shot 48.3% from the field, while holding Thomas to 26 points. The eventual victors took their largest lead of the night at 7:45 when Rebekah Campbell sank both of her shots from the charity stripe.

Jackson finished with a double-double, recording a game-high 16 points and 13 rebounds. Malloy helped with 15 points in the win.

For the Terriers, McAllister had a strong second half, finishing with 16 points on the night, while Goodall ended with 10.

On the night, Thomas shot 34% (18-53) from the field, while MMA went 24-57 (42.1%). Maine Maritime also held a 43-29 advantage in rebounds.

Thomas will travel to conference foe University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday at 3pm. The Beavers defeated Thomas 81-46 earlier this month in Waterville.
