Box Score

Henniker, NH, - Thomas field hockey forward Miranda Tinsman netted two goals, leading the Terriers past the New England College Pilgrims 3-0 Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Terriers improve to 4-3 overall, while the loss drops the Pilgrims to 1-8 on the season.

Thomas College opened the scoring just 8:34 into the first half as Tinsman put in a pass from Brooklyn Curry.

Tinsman tacked on her second score of the game in the 16th minute as she fired a shot that deflected off a Pilgrim defender and bounced in.  The Terrier defense held the Pilgrims at bay in the opening half allowing just one shot on net in the opening stanza.

The two teams would battle through the majority of the second half of play scoreless before Michelle Greene dribbled around two NEC defenders and scored her team-high fifth goal of the season at the 61:42 mark.

The Pilgrims would have more scoring opportunities in the second half putting three shots on net but Terrier keeper Sofia Sourgiadakis came up with the saves to solidify the victory.

Sourgiadakis totaled four saves in the win, while NEC keeper Courtney Duquette collected 12 stops on the afternoon.

Thomas will hit the field again on Saturday, Sept. 28 when they host conference foe Castleton.
