Box Score WATERVILLE, ME – Thomas (2-4) was unable to keep up their offensive surge from the previous two games, being shut out by Saint Joseph's College (5-1) 1-0 in a non-conference women's soccer match on Tuesday night. Senior Kate Thibodeau made eight saves in the loss.
The first half saw a significant amount of back and forth play, with both teams having scoring opportunities despite the Terriers being outshot 12-1. The home side's best chance in the opening stanza came in the 24th minute when Bronte Howorth put a cross in the box that just missed the head of Kajsa Kaufeldt.
With three minutes remaining in the half the Monks put three consecutive shots on net, with two being blocked by the Thomas defense to hold the contest at 0-0 going into halftime.
SJC would continue to put shots on net in the closing half, connecting for the eventual game winner at 64:24 that Lauren Chouinard dribbled just inside the box and buried past Thibodeau on the far post side.
Saint Joseph's outshot Thomas 25-3, while holding a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Jaci Lorenzen recorded the victory for the Monks, making four saves.
Thomas will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 21 as they kick off conference play at Lyndon State. The Monks will host conference foe Norwich on Saturday in their next contest.
