Box Score WATERVILLE, ME – Castleton (11-7, 7-1 NAC) defeated Thomas College (3-12, 1-7 NAC), 1-0 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer tilt on Saturday afternoon at Smith Field. Thomas netminder Kate Thibodeau recorded 14 saves in the hard-fought loss.
The visiting Spartans broke a scoreless tie in the 51st minute of play when Blaire Hooper took a shot from the left corner of the box that curved in and went in just inside the far post.
Thomas nearly cracked the tie minutes before at 49:43 on a cross to the box by Kajsa Kaufeldt that found the feet of Bronte Howorth. However a charging Jessica Binkowski eliminated the scoring threat with a point blank save.
The reigning NAC Champion Castleton held advantages in shots (30-3) and corner kicks (6-0) in today's match. Binkowski made two saves in the victory for the away side.
Thomas will return to the pitch tomorrow for senior day as they host Green Mountain College at 1pm.
