Box Score WATERVILLE, ME- Thomas College (5-6, 2-5 NAC) was knocked off by Husson University (7-4, 5-1 NAC) 87-67 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball contest on Tuesday night. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Terriers.
The Terriers struggled shooting in the first half, only hitting on 28.6 percent of their shots, and were also outrebounded 28-19. Junior Franklin Salvador (Somerville, Mass.) paced the Terriers with nine first-half points. Junior Garen Manzo (Millinocket, Maine) and freshman Levi Barnes (Skowhegan, Maine) each chipped in seven points as the Terriers trailed 39-26 at the half.
The Eagles pushed the lead as high as 25 in the second half, but the Terriers hustled and played with intensity to cut the deficit to 11 on two occasions. Thomas shot the ball much better in the second half, hitting on 45.2 percent of their shots, but Husson also made good on the majority of their scoring chances, shooting 56.7 percent.
Salvador ended with a game-high 16 points, while adding two steals on the defensive side. Freshman Adam Carlsen (Rockport, Maine) gave a spark in the second half, connecting on three from beyond the arc to finish with nine points off the bench.
Eric Modica (Kittery, Me.) and Phil Leighton (Naples, Me.) each poured in 14 points to lead the Eagles.
Thomas will return to the court on Saturday afternoon as they host the University of Maine at Farmington in NAC action. Tip-off is set for 2:00pm.
