Terriers Defeated by Spartans, 75-39

WATERVILLE, ME- Thomas (4-12, 3-8 NAC) was defeated by Castleton (17-1, 10-1 NAC) in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball matchup Friday night at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.

Castleton kicked off the game with a 10-1 run to give them a comfortable lead from the start. The Terriers would cut the margin down to as little as five in the opening stanza with a layup by Megan Pelletier (Winslow, Maine) at 11:04. The visitors would hold a 19 point advantage at half, 40-21.

Pelletier led the Terriers with seven points along with three boards. Overall Thomas shot 31.6% (6-19) from the floor in the first half..

Castleton shot 39.5% (15-38) in the opening half, going 3-7 (42.9%) from beyond the arc. Jade Desroches () had a game high nine points while coming off of the bench and playing 10 minutes.

The second half was much of the same as Castleton continued to add to their lead and have the upperhand.

Thomas would finish the game shooting 26% (12-45) from the field, while collecting 27 rebounds. Pelletier would finish with a team leading 13 points, going 10-16 from the court. Ashleigh Gagne (Waterville, Maine) would chip in with seven points and five rebounds.

For the victors, Tarryn Bolognani (Whitington, Vt.) had a game high 16 points and eight rebounds for Castleton. The Spartans finished shooting 43.3% (29-67) from the floor along with 51 rebounds.

Thomas will return to action tomorrow as they play host to Green Mountain College at 3pm. Earlier in the year the Terriers defeated GMC 79-75 in Vermont.
