Thomas Downed by Cross-Town Rival Colby

WATERVILLE, ME- The Thomas Terriers (2-6, 1-2 NAC) fell to Colby College (3-3) in a non-conference field hockey contest Tuesday night. Thomas goaltenders Sofia Sourgiadakis (Littleton, Mass.) and Jasmine Bishop (Waterville, Maine) combined for 18 stops in the contest.

Emisha Strage (Wesport, Conn.) was one of three Colby players to score their first collegiate goals. Junior Erika Johnson (South Pomfret, Vt.) and sophomore Caitlin Guiney (Concord, Mass.) also scored for the first time in their college careers. Erin Maguire (Wolfeboro, N.H.), added her first goal at Colby and dished two assists.

Colby goalkeepers Michelle Burt (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Sarah Evans (Cohasset, Mass.) both played 35 minutes. Evans had the lone save for Colby.

Thomas was outshot 34-2 in the defeat and Colby held a 9-2 penalty corner margin.

The Terriers will return to action Saturday, Sept. 29 as they host conference rival Husson University at 11am on the red turf field at Thomas College.
