Box Score BRIDGEWATER, MA- Thomas (0-2) fell to Bridgewater State University (1-0) Sunday afternoon in a non-conference field hockey match-up on Sunday afternoon. Junior netminders Jasmine Bishop (Waterville, Maine) and Sofia Sourgiadakis (Littleton, N.H.) combined to make ten saves in goal for Thomas in the loss.
Senior forward Shelby Farland (Fiskdale, Mass.) scored in the 14th minute with a blast from just inside the top of the circle that beat Sourgiadakis blocker side. Farland made it a 2-0 game in the 43rd minute on a penalty stroke goal to increase the lead for the Bears.
Bridgewater's junior midfielder Georgina Bagordo (Sparta, N.J.) rounded out the scoring in the 63rd minute with an unassisted tally as she found the back of the net on a shot from the left side.
The Bears held a 21-2 shot advantage as well as a 15-2 edge in penalty corners.
The Terrier field hockey team will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 12 for their home opener as they host in-state rival Bates College at 7pm.
