Hand Scores Twice as Terriers Defeat USM, 2-1

WATERVILLE, ME- The Thomas Terriers (4-0-1, 1-0 NAC) defeat University of Southern Maine (1-6 )2-1  in a non-conference men's soccer match Tuesday night  in rainy storm-like conditions. Michael Hand (Essex, England) continued his scoring streak (five games), two goals in the victory.

Hand would receive a spot on cross from teammate Marcus Johnson (Sandy's, Bermuda) on the right side of the pitch, and burried it past USM keeper Jeremy Turner in the 22nd minute of the first half.

22 minutes in the second half, Hand again would strike, receiving a pass from Kenny Cano (Lowell, Mass.) and striking it over Turner for his North Atlantic Conference (NAC) leading seventh goal.

The Huskies would cut the deficit to one with eight minutes remaining as Harrison Hall picked up a pass from Kevin McConnell and got through the defensive line, putting it past Mikkail Crockwell (St. David's, Bermuda).

Both squads had 14 shots in the contest, with Thomas holding a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Terriers return to the turf Friday evening as they face-off against foe Johnson State at 5pm. Last fall Thomas defeated the Badgers 2-0 on the road.
