Box Score WATERVILLE, ME- New England College (1-4) eked out a 2-1 victory over Thomas (0-4) Friday night in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) field hockey matchup. Michelle Greene (Winslow, Maine) picked up her first collegiate goal in the loss for the Terriers.
Kate Roberge of NEC got the first goal of the contest seven minutes into the game as she shot from just inside the box, deflecting off of Thomas netminder Jasmine Bishop's (Waterville, Maine) pads.
The Terriers came out of the second period on a mission, as Green would score just 37 seconds into the second half from the left side of the box, burying it past Pilgrims goalie Courtney Duquette.
The Pilgrims answered the Terriers offensive efforts with a trip downfield , as Rachel Hunt would score the eventual game winner at the 38:42 mark, with an assist from Roberge.
New England College held just a one shot advantage (7-6) in the first half, but doubled the amount of Thomas in the second 12-6, (19-12 overall).
Duquette and Sofia Sourgiadakis (Littleton, N.H.) both had five saves in the evenly-matched contest. Sourgiadakis replaced Bishop in goal to start the second half of play.
Thomas will return to the turf Monday as they play host to Daniel Webster for a 4pm showdown.
