Bird's Game High Not Enough against Pilgrim's

Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College Terriers women's basketball team dropped a North Atlantic Conference matchup 89-66, to the Pilgrims from New England College this evening, in front of the home crowd at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium. With the loss the Terriers fall to 3-16 (3-10 NAC) on the season, as NEC improves to 16-4 (9-4 NAC).

Senior guard Karin Bird recorded the game high in points with 28 for the Terriers while shooting 11-14 from the field. Rachael Williams tallied the game high for the Pilgrims with 18 points and nine rebounds.

The Terriers got a strong first half performance from Bird as she posted 12 points and two assists. NEC's first half leader, Kayla Lawlor  posted 11 points. The Pilgrims jumped out to a huge lead in the opening minutes to play thanks to a 13-to-4 run on the shoulder of Lawlor's 11 points. The Pilgrims never let go of their lead and  led the Terriers at halftime by the score of 47-32.

New England College would pull away in the second half by out-shooting the Terriers from the three-point line 34.4% to 18.2%, while also winning the turnover battle 26-14. The Pilgrims would end the game with five players in double figures. Senior guard Jessie Ledy added 12 points, junior guard Kate Levy posted 11 points to go along with Lawlor,  and  Sophomore guard Katarina Muska had 10 points.

The Terriers got key  support in the paint from sophomore forward Kate Thibodeau who had 10 points, and junior Jasmine Bishop who led the Terriers in rebounds with eight.

The Terriers next matchup is Saturday February 3rd against number two Colby-Sawyer at 1:00 p.m. The Pilgrim's will head west tomorrow as they take on the University of Maine at Farmington at 1:00 p.m.
