Terriers Stun Lyndon in OT

Lyndonville, Vt. – The Thomas College women's basketball team used a late 15-2 run to force overtime and outscored the Lyndon College Hornets 8-5 in the extra session to pick up a 75-72 North Atlantic Conference win.

With the win the Terriers improve to 5-17 (5-11 NAC) on the season, while the home standing Hornets fall to 8-14 (6-9 NAC).

Trailing by 13 with 4:23 left to play; the Terriers chipped away at the deficit and managed to tie the score at 67-67 on two free throws by Elizabeth Goodall with 18 seconds left to play. In overtime, Lindsay Fry buried a three-pointer from the left wing 13 seconds in to give Thomas the lead for good.

Free throws in the final minute of play by Karin Bird and Ashley Matchett gave the Terriers a three-point lead with 9.6 remaining, giving the Hornets one last shot at sending the contest to double-overtime. However, on the ensuing play, Lyndon's Danielle LaFont's heavily-contested three-point attempt was partially blocked allowing Thomas to walk off with the win.

Bird picked up a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds; the NCAA Division III leading scorer also added on six assists and three steals. Fry and Jasmine Bishop both hit double figures with 13 points each while Goodall finished the game with eight points, 12 rebounds, and two steals.

The Terriers will host Maine Maritime on Tuesday evening for their final home game of the season, tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
