Johnson, Vt. – The Thomas College women's basketball team jumped out to a 30-19 halftime lead and was able to hold off North Atlantic Conference rival Johnson State to pick up a 63-57 win. With the win the Terriers now have a firm grasp of eighth place in the NAC and a conference playoff bid.

With the win the Terriers improve to 4-17(4-11 NAC) on the season, while the home standing Badgers fall to 4-17 (2-12 NAC) overall.

Senior Karin Bird scored 21 points to help keep her on top as the NCAA Division III leading scorer, grabbed eight boards, and picked off three steals.  Sophomore Lindsay Fry also hit double figures coming off the bench to hit 13 points, while fellow sophomore Jasmine Bishop just missed a double-double with nine points and a game high 13 rebounds.

The Terrier defense held JSC to a 19% first half shooting effort to key the halftime lead with Fry scoring eight of her 13 over the first 20 minutes.  Thomas was able to make good on the poor Badger shooting by earning a 33-25 rebounding advantage in the first half.

Thomas would grow their lead to as much as 15 in the second half before Johnson put together a run to cut lead to eight at 58-50 with 3:08 left to play but Thomas would hold them off for the win.

The Terriers finish out their road trip Saturday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off against Lyndon College.
