Box Score

WATERVILLE, ME- The Thomas men's soccer team claimed the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) regular season championship with a 2-0 victory over University of Maine at Farmington Tuesday night. The win secures the Terriers the regular season title, finishing with an overall 12-2-2 record and 8-0-1 in conference play. The Beavers fall to 2-15, 1-8 in the NAC to finish their regular season schedule.

Marcus Johnson (Sandy's, Bermuda) kicked off the scoring for Thomas at the 19th minute with a strike just outside the box finding the right corner of the net. To end the half the Terriers would hold a 9-2 advantage in shots with two saves a piece for both keepers in a half that saw a lot of back and forth play.

UMF would put pressure on the hosts at the beginning of the second half, but would not be able to gain any momentum. Thomas would cushion their slim lead with a goal at the 73:30 mark by freshman Joshua Phelps (Maroochydor, Australia), who netted his fourth goal of his rookie campaign.

Thomas would finish the game with 19 shots to the Beavers four, while also holding a six to one advantage in corner kicks.

Keepers Mikkail Crockwell (St.David's, Bermuda) and Paul Dupre both had three saves in the match.

Thomas will host #8 Green Mountain on Saturday at 1pm in the quarterfinals on the NAC Championships. Earlier this fall the Terriers shut out the Eagles on the road 2-0, and have won the last five matches against Green Mountain.
