Lyndon Takes Down Women's Basketball

Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College women's basketball team fell 82-72 to the visiting Hornets of Lyndon College in a North Athletic Conference match-up Friday evening. The Terriers were led by senior Karin Bird, who scored a game high 18 points.

With the loss the Terriers fall to 1-9 (1-4 NAC) on the season, while the Hornets improve to 3-6 (2-2 NAC).

The Hornets jumped out to an early lead with a Donna Lawson layup made at the 18:31 mark giving them a 4-2 lead that they would never let got of.

The Terriers worked to chip away at the Hornets lead and with 13 seconds remaining in the first sophomore Lindsay Fry  hit a three bringing the score to 42-35. With time running out the momentum shifted right back to the visitors as Sarah Cornell grabbed the board off a Naomi White three point attempt and sent a layup through the hoop with less than one second left on the clock giving the Hornets a 44-35 lead.

The Terriers continued to try and chip away at the Hornets lead but were unable to catch the visitors despite their 31 turnovers.

The Terriers will play host to the Badgers of Johnson State Saturday January 7th at 3:00 p.m. Lyndon will travel to the University of Maine at Farming to for a 3:00 p.m. match up.
