Men's Hoops Sinks Mariners

Castine, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball team picked up their ninth with of the season as Martin Cleveland recorded a 16 point, 10 assist double-double lifting the Terriers to a 79-50 North Atlantic Conference victory over the Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy. Cleveland was one of three Terriers to hit double figures in the win over home standing MMA.

Cleveland set the tone in the opening minute, collecting a rebound off of a Mariners' (2-13, 1-8 NAC) miss, and then turned it into the game's first points at the other end. Cleveland shot 4-of-8 from the floor and 8-of-12 for the line to get his 16. He also recorded a pair of blocks, an assist and a steal. Jarrad DeVaughn led all scorers with 19 points with a 7-of-12 night. He hit 3-of-5 from behind the arc and had six boards and a block. Stanley Greene Jr. dumped in a dozen points on a 4-of-6 effort from the field.

Thomas (9-5, 6-3 NAC) opened the game with a 9-2 run and pushed the lead into double-digits 13 minutes in. The Terriers extended the lead to 16, 35-19, by the half and cruised to their third win over Maine Maritime in as many meeting.

The Terriers will take on NAC rival Husson University on Saturday. The Eagles won the first match-up against the Terriers, 77-70 in Bangor on January 10th.
