Johnson, Vt. – The Thomas College scored early in the first half off a corner kick and then sealed it with a goal with under a minute to play, both goals coming from sophomore Michael Hand, to take a North Atlantic Conference  men's soccer decision on Saturday at Minaert Field. With the win Thomas improves to 4-1 (1-1, NAC) while Johnson slips to 3-3-1 (1-1, NAC).

Thomas' first goal came on a corner kick struck by freshman Mattias Schyberg that Hand got his head on simultaneously with Johnson keeper Sam Martin's outstretched hands.  Hand was able to get more of it and send it to the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

The Terriers received the insurance goal with: 48 remaining when Hand took a feed to the right side after a run up the middle of the pitch by Khamisi Lightbourne.  Lightbourne found Hand who collected and placed a shot just inside the left post for the final 2-0 margin.

Thomas keeper Mikkail Crockwell made five saves en route to the shutout.  Martin made four saves over the first 45 minutes in the loss while Ryan Belen played the second half making five saves for JSC.

Thomas will head down I-95 to Lewiston, Maine tomorrow for a non-conference game, against Bates College at 1:00 p.m.
