Box Score Waterville, Maine – The Castleton State Spartans jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first three minutes of play and never looked back as they defeated the home standing Thomas College Terriers 72-44 in North Atlantic Conference action Sunday afternoon. With the lost the Terriers fall to 1-5 (1-1 NAC) on the season while Spartans improve to 5-1 (2-0 NAC).
Thomas' Karin Bird provided a game high 21 points for the Terriers. Bird also grabbed three rebounds and went 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Elizabeth Goodall came off the bench to lead the Terriers with six rebounds and finished up second in scoring for the Thomas with nine points.
Castleton's Alyssa Leonard picked up a double-double scoring 17 points and snagging 11 rebounds. Leonard also dished out eight assist. Alyssa Moore came off the bench to be the second Spartan to hit double figures with 17 points.
Next up for the Terriers is a trip down I-95 for a non-conference match up with Bates on Tuesday December 6th; tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Castleton will take on Husson on December 9th in a NAC match up.
