Thomas defeats Lyndon 6-1 on Senior Day

Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College men's soccer team defeated the Hornets of Lyndon 6-1 in a North Atlantic Conference match-up on Alumni Field sending four seniors out with a win. Sophomore Michael Hand recorded a hat trick to lead the Terriers.

The Terriers (10-5, 5-3 NAC) honored the following seniors Andrew Mack, Christopher Harney, Jacob Jandreau and James Helma as they played in their final regular season game on Alumni Field.

Freshman Mattias Schyberg put the Terriers on the scoreboard first when he scored in the 15th minute. Six minutes later Hand would score his first of three.

Freshman Khamisi Lightbourne finished a corner taken by sophomore Matt Ford to add to the Terriers lead in the 35th minute. Less than two minutes later freshman Dakota Duplisse sent a free kick past the Lyndon (6-10-1, 3-5-1 NAC) goalkeeper Jason Grey for the fourth Terrier goal of the half.

The Terriers led the Hornets 4-0 at the half.

Freshman Winston Trott relived starting goalkeeper Mikkail Crockwell at the start of the second half. Crockwell put up his eighth clean sheet of the season with two saves before handing the reigns off to Trott.

Five minutes into the second half Hand tallied his second goal of the game when he finished a pass from Duplisse. Hand completed the hat trick when he scored off of a pass from Schyberg in the 62nd minute.

Tyler Powell placed the Hornets on the scoreboard when he scored a goal in the 77th minute.

Trott recorded three saves for the Terriers. Jason Marks recorded six saves for the Hornets in the a half of duty, as starting goalkeeper Grey shoulders the loss.

The Terriers return to the pitch on October 25th when they travel to NAC rival the Beavers of University of Maine at Farmington for a 3 p.m. start time.  Today's contest marks the end of the regular season for the visiting Hornets.
