Box Score

CASTLETON, VT -- Senior forward Kayla Blank scored three second half goals, and set a program record for goals in a season with 18, as Castleton State College defeated Thomas College 7-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action.

Castleton was unable to penetrate a determined Terrier defense in the early going, as Thomas turned away several chances by the Spartan attack. Senior Trishia Fellows broke through with six minutes remaining in the half off a Molly Fraher assist to give Castleton a 1-0 lead at halftime. Fellows one touched a perfectly placed pass from Fraher just inside the nearside post for her 11th goal of the season.

The second half was all Castleton as Blank put the game away early. The senior forward scored just 24 seconds into the half off a Carolyn Griggs assist. Griggs played the ball across the goalmouth and Blank stuffed it home. Less than two minutes later Blank put home a rebound to make it 3-0, then found herself on the end of another Griggs cross 40 seconds later for the hat trick. Marie Amaral sandwiched a pair of goals around Griggs's 15th of the season for the final score.

Thomas goalie, Megan Denby, stopped 10 shots including eight in the first half as the Terriers fell to 3-10 (1-4 NAC). Trisha Clark stopped one shot to earn the shut out for the 10-6 (4-1 NAC) Spartans.
