Long-time Thomas College Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Tom Sheridan returns to the program as an Associate Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator.
He previously rejoined the Thomas coaching staff in the summer of 2014 as the head men's lacrosse coach, previously serving in the same role from 2004-2010. Sheridan took on additional duties with the women's program during the 2016 season, serving both programs as an associate head coach.
The first head coach in Thomas men’s lacrosse history, Sheridan amassed a program-high 24 victories in the six-year span (27 wins lifetime), while leading the program to its first winning season in 2008 with a 7-6 record and being named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Coach of the Year.
Sheridan served as the head men’s lacrosse coach at the University of Maine at Farmington from 2012-2013. Over the two years Sheridan led the Beavers to two consecutive 4-7 (4-4 NAC) records, which matched the program’s single season wins record each season.
Since 1995, Sheridan has held the position of Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse coach at Messalonskee High School in Oakland where he has led the team to four appearances in the Eastern Maine Class A Championship game in the years 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010. The Eagles also appeared in the Class B state championship in 2023 losing to York High school. He also guided the Eagles to five Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) Championships in the years 2005, 2011, 2016, 2022 and 2024.
Sheridan received KVAC Coach of the Year honors in 2005, 2011, 2016, and 2022, and the USA Lacrosse Maine Boys Coach of the year in 2021.
A graduate of the University of Maine in Orono, Sheridan received a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a concentration in Health Education. He also holds a master’s degree in Physical Education from Canisius University in Buffalo, New York
