Cody Cleaveland joined the Thomas College Men's Soccer program in fall of 2026. He serves as an Assistant Coach and primarily works with the team's goalkeepers. Cleaveland previously built an impressive collegiate playing career at Central Maine Community College (CMCC) and gained several years of experience coaching goalkeepers at the youth and high school levels.
At CMCC, Cleaveland was one of the nation's top goalkeepers in the USCAA Division II. As a freshman in 2024-25, he led the entire USCAA Division II in save percentage (.876), goals against average (0.65), goals against (11), and wins (15). He posted a 16-1-1 record in 18 starts and started all five postseason contests, allowing just three goals as the Mustangs captured the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Tournament championship and the USCAA Division II National Championship.
As a sophomore in 2025-26, Cleaveland continued his standout career, posting a 14-0-2 record in 16 starts while captaining CMCC to an undefeated season. He again led the USCAA Division II in save percentage (.879), goals against average (0.45), goals against (7), and wins (16), improving upon his numbers in each category from the previous season. He started all five postseason games, allowing just two goals as the Mustangs won their fifth consecutive YSCC Tournament championship and second straight USCAA Division II National Championship.
Prior to CMCC, Cleaveland graduated from Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, Maine, where he earned All-State honors in both soccer and baseball. He spent 12 years in the Seacoast United club soccer program, progressing through the organization's age groups, and also played three years with Black Rock FC. During his club career, he earned seven Goalkeeper of the Week honors with Seacoast United and helped Black Rock FC win the IMG Cup Invitational in Bradenton, Florida, and The Players College Showcase Tournament in Las Vegas.
Cleaveland also brings extensive goalkeeper coaching experience to the staff. He has coached goalkeepers with Seacoast United and Maine Lightning Soccer for several years, while also training high school goalkeepers through his own goalkeeper development company, NXTLVLGK.
