Rutledge Leads Terriers to 2-0 Win Against Colby-Sawyer College

Waterville, ME - Briley Rutledge scored two goals to help lead the Terriers to their first win against Colby-Sawyer College in over 15 years on Saturday, September 5th, 2026. The final score was 2-0 in the team's 10th meeting since 2010.

How it Happened:
  • The Chargers came out of the gate fast, earning most of the possession and eventually forcing a good save from Terrier goalkeeper Emily Rock in the 14th minute.
  • Both teams traded shots for the next 20 minutes, with Rock making several more saves and several Terrier shots missing just wide.
  • In the 41st minute a long pass in behind the Charger defense from Ally Southwick found the foot of a pacey Rutledge, using her speed to chip the goalkeeper to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The Terriers went into halftime up 1-0, but needed to play a strong half defensively to hold on to win.
  • In the 56th minute the Chargers were awarded a penalty kick, but missed the goal on the ensuing kick to give the Terriers momentum.
  • Just five minutes later a great through pass from Yaribel Pena once again found the path of Rutledge, who used her speed to score her second goal of the match.
  • From then on the Chargers began to play more attacking, but the Terrier defense and Rock matched the intensity.
  • In the 85th minute a Charger shot hit the right post, nearly cutting the Terrier lead in half.
  • Despite the ensuing chances, the Terriers held on to earn their first countable win of the season, 2-0.
