Waterville, ME - Women's Rugby went undefeated in their home opener round-robin this morning at Alumni Field, September 12th, 2026. The Terriers gained three wins over the University of New England and the University of New Haven (43-0, 29-10, 24-15)
How it Happened:
Match One: 43-0 Win VS University of New Haven
- The Terriers opened the scoring with a try by Aliyah Riffey with 5:55 left in the first half and another one later in the half at 2:57.
- Cassidy Hardy continued the scoring with 3 tries, which went along with her four conversions.
- Emma Mercadante added two more tries to the Terriers lead in the second half.
- The University of New Haven had no answer for the Terriers' dominant performance.
Match Two: 29-10 Win VS University of New England
- For the second match of the day, Thomas picked up where they left off, with Hardy leading the way with two tries paired with two conversions in the first half.
- The Terriers ended the first half with a 19-0 lead over the University of New England.
- The University of New England started the second half with a try, and only managed to score one other time in the second half.
- Riffey ended the scoring for the Terriers after time expired making the final score 29-10.
Match Three: 26-15 Win Vs University of New England
- The University of New England struck first in the first minute of the game.
- Thomas didn't match the score until later in the half, with a try and conversion by Hardy.
- The Nor'easters battled back to make the score 7-10, but Hardy scored a try after time had expired to put the Terrier up 12-15.
- Just after halftime the Nor'easters scored again, but tries from Hardy and Maeve Hickok put the Terriers on top with a 26-15 win.
What's Next:
- The Terriers go on the road this Saturday, September 19th, to battle against Babson College at Babson Park, MA. Kickoff is set to begin at 10 AM.
