Pelletier's Five Goals Pushes Women's Lacrosse to 13-3 Win Over Anna Maria

Waterville, ME - Women's Lacrosse earned its second win of the regular season on Wednesday, March 18th, defeating Anna Maria College at home by a final score of 13-3. Junior Isabella Pelletier led the Terriers offense with 5 points in the win over the Amcats, while first year Katarina Olvera and senior Sadie Dorr added 2 points apiece.

How it Happened:
  • Pelletier got off to a hot start to open the 1st quarter, scoring back-to-back unassisted goals to give the Terriers a 2-0 advantage.
  • Dorr continued to build momentum for the Terriers just seconds later with a goal of her own, extending the Terriers lead to three midway through the 1st quarter.
  • The Amcats chipped away at the deficit with a goal shortly after, but a late strike from Pelletier completed her first-quarter hat trick and sent the Terriers into the second with a 4–1 lead.
  • Olvera took over the Terriers offense in the 2nd, scoring the two lone goals of the quarter to put the Terriers up 6-1 heading into halftime.
  • Anna Maria cut their deficit to four goals with a strike in the opening minutes of the 3rd quarter, but a quick answer from Jorgie Arduini made it a 7-2 game in the following minutes.
  • Karissa Cotoia (assisted by Bristol Sine) and Pelletier closed out the 3rd quarters with two goals in less than two minutes, giving the Terriers a 9-2 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
  • The Terriers continued to apply pressure to the Amcats defense in 4th with three quick goals thanks to Gwendolyn Schillie (assisted by Dorr), Pelletier, and Emily Gower (assisted by Arduini), extending the Terriers lead to 10 goals midway through the 4th.
  • The Amcats found the back of the net once more late in the fourth, but another goal from Dorr ultimately put the game out of reach, securing a 13–3 home victory over Anna Maria.
  • Terriers goalkeepers Bristol Sine and Amber Boardman split time in net in the win over the Amcats, each recording three saves in the contest.
