Waterville, ME — Taylor Livingston '12 has built a career defined by perseverance, discipline, and a commitment to making an impact. A graduate of Thomas College's Business Management program and a four-year member of the baseball team, Livingston's journey reflects the power of embracing uncertainty and trusting the process.
Like many students' entering college, Livingston arrived at Thomas without a clear career path in mind. Through exposure to a variety of academic disciplines, he began to discover his interests. Courses in entrepreneurship and economics proved to be especially influential, sparking a passion that would ultimately shape his professional future.
"Looking back, I didn't realize it at the time, but those classes laid the perfect foundation for my career as a financial advisor," Livingston reflected.
Following graduation, Livingston entered the financial services industry, where success is far from guaranteed. Through persistence and belief in both him and his team, he built his financial planning practice from the ground up.
Today, he serves as a Managing Director and Financial Advisor at Baystate Financial, where he continues to grow that practice while also mentoring and developing other advisors. While he takes pride in what he has built and where he is today in his career, Livingston finds the most fulfillment in the impact he and his team have on the lives of their clients.
"I am most proud of the perseverance it took to get started, and now, the impact we have on the people we serve every day," he said.
During his time at Thomas College, Livingston was a key member of the baseball team, contributing to a successful 2012 season that would later earn induction into the Thomas College Hall of Fame. However, his most meaningful memories extend beyond the field.
"The moments that stand out most are the ones away from the game, spring training trips, long bus rides, and the relationships I still have with teammates today," he shared.
Livingston credits several mentors at Thomas College for shaping his approach to both his career and life. Head Baseball Coach Greg King instilled in him the importance of attention to detail and consistency in daily habits. Professor John Joseph introduced him to economic concepts that continue to influence his work today, while Professor Jim Libby served as a role model through his leadership, discipline, and high standards.
These lessons combined with the experiences gained as a student-athlete have continued to guide Livingston throughout his career. From navigating uncertainty as a student to building a successful practice and mentoring others, his journey is a testament to the lasting impact of the Thomas College experience.
