Waterville, ME - Women's Lacrosse earned its first win of the regular season in its home opener on Sunday, March 15th, defeating the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Bucaneers in a non-conference match-up by a final score of 12-6. Junior

How it Happened:
- The Terriers got off to a hot start early in the 1st quarter, with Pelletier and Olvera combining for 3 goals in the opening minutes to give the Terriers an early 3-0 advantage.
- Mass Maritime found a response with a goal of their own to make it a 3-1 game with just over three minutes to play in the 1st quarter.
- Two late goals from Dorr and Olvera (assisted by Pelletier) gave the Terriers a 5-1 lead heading into the 2nd quarter.
- The Buccaneers looked to flip the momentum of the game early in the 2nd, scoring two unanswered goals to cut the Terriers lead to just two goals.
- But the Terriers found a response midway through the 2nd, with Olvera (assisted by Maria Protheroe) and Gwendolyn Schillie (assisted by Karissa Cotoia) each finding the back of the net to extend the lead to four goals.
- Mass Maritime continued to chip away at their deficit with a late goal in the 2nd, but a third goal from Pelletier in the final seconds of the quarter sent the Terriers into the half with a 8-4 lead.
- The Terriers continued to build momentum early in the 3rd, extending their lead to six with goals from Pelletier and Jorgie Arduini (assisted by Protheroe).
- The Buccaneers found the back of the net in the final minute of the 3rd, but a quick response from Pelletier in the final seconds of the quarter gave the Terriers an 11-5 lead heading into the 4th quarter.
- The Terriers (goal from Dorr) and the Buccaneers traded goals early in the 4th quarter, but strong efforts from the Terriers defense ultimately kept Mass Maritime scoreless for the remainder of the game to secure a hard-fought 12-6 win.
