Club NECBA Baseball Overpowers UMaine Club Baseball in 10-0 Shutout

Waterville, ME - NECBA Club Baseball hosted the UMaine Club Baseball team for their second match up of the fall season on Saturday, September 27th, earning a decisive 10-0 mercy-rule victory in the sixth inning.

How it Happened:
  • Wyatt Smith would get the start on the mound against the Black Bears.
  • The Terriers would grab the momentum of the game early, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
  • The Terriers would build upon the early momentum heading into the bottom of the 2nd and 3rd, scoring four runs in back to back innings to extend the lead to 9 runs.
  • Bryce Dillon came on in relief in the fifth inning after Smith wrapped up an impressive outing, striking out seven while allowing just three hits.
  • The Terriers would seal the win in the bottom of the sixth, pushing across one final run to secure a 10-0 mercy-rule victory over the Black Bears.
  • Derek Martin and Nick Griffel would take control of the Terriers offense, going for a combined 6-8 with 4 RBI's and 4 runs scored.
  • Dillon would finish the contest allowing only two hits, with Smith earning the win over the Black Bears.

What's Next:
  • NECBA Club Baseball will be back in action on Wednesday, October 1st, when they travel to Biddeford, Maine, for a 9-inning match up against the University of New England club baseball team. First pitch is currently TBD.
