Club NECBA Baseball Unable to Overcome UMaine Club Baseball

Orono, ME -  Terriers NECBA Club Baseball would travel to Orono, Maine on Thursday, September 18th to battle the University of Maine Club Baseball team in a 7-inning contest under the lights, but would be defeated by the Black Bears by a score of 3-9. 


How it Happened:
  • Evan Pupka and would get the start for the Terriers on the mound, with Xavier Estes relieving him after four complete innings, combining for 9 strikeouts off 9 hits allowed.
  • The Black Bears would strike first, scoring one run in the bottom of the 1st, and extending their lead in the bottom of 3rd, and 4th inning.
  • But Harry Lemonie would get the Terriers on the board in the top of the 5th inning with an RBI single to cut into the Black Bears lead and give the Terriers some momentum.
  • Trey Morby would look to extend the Terriers momentum in the top of the sixth inning with a 2-RBI single to cut the Black Bears lead to four runs.
  • Despite the late comeback effort from the the Terriers, the Black Bears would reclaim the momentum by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.
  • The Terriers would have a final chance to answer back in the top of the 7th inning, but the Black Bears would ultimately hold on to hand NECBA Club Baseball its first loss of the season by a score of 3-9. 
What's Next:
  • Club NECBA Baseball will look to bounce back on Saturday, September 20th, traveling to Lawarence, Massachusetts to take on the Holy Cross Club Baseball team in a 7-inning double-header. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 12:30 PM at Devlin Field.
