Waterville, ME – Waterville native Sean Duplessie, current Men's Ice Hockey Assistant Coach, has been appointed as the Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach. The program will compete in the ACHA, and games are anticipated to begin in the 2025-2026 school year.

Duplessie has several years of playing and coaching experience, playing from an early age and eventually transitioning to coaching youth hockey in Waterville and Presque Isle. This culminated in eventually assisting the Men's Ice Hockey program this past season. Duplessie carries a USA Hockey Level IV Coaching Certification and served in the National Guard for 21 years out of Bangor, Maine.

Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Christopher Parsons stated "We are thrilled to welcome Sean to Thomas College as our new Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach. Sean's addition marks an exciting step forward as we continue to build meaningful opportunities for student-athletes. His leadership will help create a unique pathway for young women to pursue the sport they love while receiving a high-quality education. This is another important milestone in enhancing the overall student experience at Thomas College, and we're proud to expand what's possible for our future Terriers."

When describing his coaching style, Duplessie stated that he has more of a team-oriented approach and supportive coaching style. He also emphasized that although winning is important, it shouldn't come at all costs and that getting an education is crucial in setting student-athletes up for success. Duplessie also believes in discipline, hard work, commitment, and dedication both on and off the ice.

Duplessie is looking forward to putting together the school's first ever Women's Ice Hockey team. This team will help lay the foundation for another great tradition at Thomas College through athletics. "I am very excited and thankful for this opportunity and am looking forward to the challenge. I look forward to working alongside some other great people and getting to know everyone. It has been a dream of mine to coach at this level as a Head Coach!"

Duplessie also wanted to thank Head Men's Ice Hockey Coach Joey Waraskevich for all his support. Duplessie's first official day was April 4th, 2025.
