Worster’s Strong Performance Not Enough for Men’s Lacrosse in 10-11 Loss to Wildcats

Providence, Rhode Island – Terriers Men's Lacrosse traveled to Providence, Rhode Island to face a talented Johnson & Wales University squad on Saturday, March 1st, but were defeated in a nail biter by a score of 10-11. Timothy Worster would finish the game with 5 goals and 1 assist despite the Terriers loss.

How it Happened: 

  • The Wildcats would score the game's opening goal minutes into the first quarter to take an early lead. 

  • The Wildcats would close the first quarter with two late goals to put the Terriers down 2-3 after one quarter of play. 

  • The Terriers would flip the momentum of the game in the second quarter with Worster scoring his second goal of the game assisted by O. Lyons to tie the game at 3-3. 

  • Wyatt Lyons would add to the Terriers scoring run, scoring back-to-back goals less than two minutes apart to put the Terriers ahead 5-3 midway through the second quarter.   

  • The Wildcats would score midway through the second quarter, but late goals from Worster and Dustyn Hinkley would give the Terriers a 7-4 lead heading into halftime. 

  • Worster would score his fifth goal of the game, finding the back of the net twice in the opening minutes of the third quarter. 

  • But the Wildcats would take over in the third, closing the quarter with four goals to cut the Terriers lead to just one goal heading into the fourth quarter. 

  • Hunter Simpson would try to get the momentum back in the hands of the Terriers with a goal midway through the fourth assisted by O. Lyons. 

  • But the Wildcats would storm back with three goals in the fourth quarter to reclaim the lead with less than five minutes to play. 

  • The Terriers would look to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats would ultimately hold on to complete a second half comeback and hand the Terriers a heartbreaking 10-11 road loss.

The Terriers will be back in action on Wednesday, March 5th, hosting the Dean College Bulldogs in a non-conference match up. Game time is scheduled for 4 PM at Smith Field.
