NECBA Club Baseball Splits Road Doubleheader Against UVM Club

White River Junction, VT - NECBA Club Baseball traveled to take on the University of Vermont Club Baseball team in a 7-inning double header on Saturday, October 11th. The Terriers would fall to the Catamounts in game one by a score of 2-5, but would bounce back in game two with a 14-12 win.

How it Happened:

Game One: NECBA Club 2, UVM Club 5
  • The Terriers would get the bats going in the top of the 1st and 2md inning, scoring back to back runs to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead.
  • But the Catamounts would find a response in the bottom of the 3rd inning, scoring four runs to put the Terriers down 2-4.
  • The Terriers would look to find some momentum late in game one, but the Catamounts would extend their lead in the bottom of the 6th inning and ultimately hold on to hand the Terriers a 2-5 loss.
  • Andrew Rapoza and Vincent Pavonetti would pitch for the Terriers in game one, combining for 7 hits allowed and 7 strikeouts.

Game Two: NECBA Club 14, UVM Club 12
  • The Catamounts would strike first in the bottom of the 1st inning with three runs scored, but the Terriers would respond in the top of the 2nd and 3rd inning with 5 combined runs to take a 5-3 lead.
  • UVM would answer right back in the bottom of the 3rd inning with 7 runs, putting the Terriers down 5-10.
  • But the Terriers would ultimately rally back, scoring nine combined runs in the final three innings of the game, and shutting down the Catamounts offense in the bottom of the 7th inning to take a 14-12 comeback victory in game two.
  • Xavier Estes would earn the start on the mound in game two, with Jack Michaud, Broden Eaton-Foster and Harry Lemoine each entering the game in relief.
  • Nick Griffel and Shawn Lalevee would lead the Terriers offense in the game two win over the Catamounts, going for a combined 4-7 with 2 RBI's and 5 runs scored.

What's Next: The Terriers will return to action on Monday, October 13th, hosting the University of New England Club Baseball team in a 7-inning contest. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM at H. Allen Ryan Field.
